We wrote sensory poems last week. First we brainstormed which items could go with the senses. Then I had them pick their favorites and/or add their own to write their personal fall poem.
For some painting fun, they created leaves. It's important to trace the leaves with a Sharpie marker so they can see the outline after painting. I cut large sponges into small squares. Then I had them sponge-paint a leaf with a fall color. They started with their 2nd-favorite color! The next day, they added (very lightly) the second color. They really enjoyed getting to fancy up their poetry!
